FETISH: LEATHER AND LACE

 

WHY THEY WANT THIS: Calling all the authoritative, domineering and independent women out there. Badass leather, poster graphics, neon silk satin and lace meets rawhide coloured furs and seriously chunky statement jewels that really pack a punch. No shying away now ladies, Mimi Wade is here to show you who should be boss in her Autumn/Winter 2016 collection.

 

WHAT IT DOES TO THEM: Inspired by 60’s movie queen protagonists such as Catherine Denevue and Marianne Faithfull, Wade’s collection was fabricated around women who resist social conventions and instead pursue their lives free of unnecessary influences. This was further explored through varied textures, plunging necklines and sheer 1950’s style half arm gloves with pastel fur hems.

 

WHAT’S THE CLIMAX?: Fur and diamonds formed a whimsical conception of power, coupled with white leather tailored blazers – the leather, so smooth, it lay beautifully upon the body, securing itself comfortably, prominently highlighting the breasts and securely clinching in the waist. And as your eyes glanced further down the body, the difference in texture revealed French floral lace, a texture perhaps in some instances deemed as demure and innocent however contrasted against the leather assemble, it provocatively exerted nothing other than the notion of sex.
